As many of you know, Dan and I recently relocated from London to Charlotte and so far we are loving our new life. Here’s how the ‘Queen City’ compares to the Queen’s home town...

Culture and Community

Charlotte is a city with a small-town feel, and balances the best...

Have we said goodbye to good old fashioned manners ?

I've started reading Bob Burg and John David Mann's 'The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea', which is particularly poignant at Christmas time. We all want to give give give, but these feelin...

Yesterday I was walking to the station listening to Eckhart Tolle's 'The Power of Now' when I was hit by the full force of the 'now' in motorbike form! I was very lucky to escape with just bruises and a broken phone. Yet it was as if Eckhart Tolle himself had creat...

I underestimated the impact of saying: “I’ve signed up for a stand-up gig”. I suddenly became a figurehead of fearlessness diving into the hardest profession known to man. Forget open-heart surgery or fire-fighting, standing up on stage and trying to be funny is co...

Training as a yoga teacher in India exposed me to a diverse mix of like-minded people from all over the globe. Throughout the course we shared our experiences and talents with one another, enabling us to gain far more from the month than just a yoga teaching qualif...

Everything about my time with OBRA Theatre was rich and authentic. The food. The people. The place. But most importantly, the performance. OBRA strips back theatre to its bare bones, creating spine-tingling performance that speaks to the soul. Essentially, they cut...

Our senses are so much more powerful than we realise. But far too often they are functioning on 'auto pilot': letting the brain pre-empt sounds, sights and sensations, instead of truly realising their surroundings. Our brains are very good at picking out chunks of...

I am currently on a 2-week residency with OBRATheatre, set on Au Brana Farm in the South of France. Here’s how I am getting on...

What’s great about the workshop is that it isn’t focused on an end goal. The journey is at the very heart of the process, which encourage...

My name is Katie and I'm passionate about the power of storytelling and how we can use it in our everyday lives to consciously create the lives that we want to lead. That's my why. The what is that I'm a coach, writer, yoga teacher, speaker and the founder of a yoga life coaching company called YOCO. I am also incredibly proud to be a part of 4D HumanBeing, an international leadership development and communication skills company.

Last year brought about a lot of exciting change: I got married to my best friend in June and we moved to the USA in August! We're currently living in Charlotte, North Carolina and we plan to travel all over the Americas. So we will be blogging about our adventures, our experiences as expats and our relationships, with ourselves, each other and our new community. This is a blog about everyday wellness; the yoga that happens off the mat; but mostly, it's a blog about being well and truly human. Here are some examples:

-I quit vipassana (a 10-day silent retreat) after 26 hours.

-I often often skip shavasana and yet, if you click here you'll find a whole article on the benefits of this lying down posture at the end of a yoga practice.

-I became a vegan, simply because it made me feel morally better than everyone else. Turns out I like eggs more than morals.

-I set up Monday evening Spanish Night to motivate Dan and I to learn a language. In reality, Spanish night involves us drinking Rioja and eating tapas.
